Why did I take this class??

Well, that's a good question, when I think of it like that I'm not entirely sure of it myself. There are a few factors. For one, I very much enjoyed having Dr. Esa as a professor for my First-Year Seminar, From Grimm to Disney, last semester. I thought he was a good professor and I enjoyed the way he ran the class. I also plan on becoming a cinema major and since I didn't have anything film-related in my schedule this semester I thought anything with film analysis would be good. I very much enjoy films and learning about them and analyzing them, I thought this class would be a good fit, even if it is about food. Speaking of food, I really do like the usage of food in films. I think even in non-food-focused films it's important to know what your characters are eating and why. It adds to the experience the way food is presented and adds that sense of taste and smell.

What am I accomplishing in this class?

Well, I suppose I want to find out what it takes to make a good food film. What goes into it? How could I make my own food film? I also want to possibly open myself up to different kinds of food. I'm not a very adventurous eater.

What is my favorite food film?

I would say that I haven't watched a lot of "food films" but one film with food in it that I really enjoy is Ratatouille. I'm a big fan of animated films and I think Ratatouille is a really great example of computer animation. The food looks real, and the way they prepare it is really nice. I also really enjoy the story of Remmy and the belief that "anyone can cook". Another favorite movie of mine, not food related, is Fantastic Mr. Fox because of it's stop motion animation, memorable characters, and great story. It's also very funny.
